Really Grading Pres. Obama

While I didn’t watch it, President Obama was given the opportunity by Oprah Winfrey, during the White House Christmas special, to give himself a grade. He gave himself a “B+”.

The President explained:

“Good, solid B-plus, we have inherited the biggest set of challenges of any president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. We stabilized the economy, and prevented possibilities of a Great Depression or a significant financial meltdown. The economy is growing again. We are on our way out of Iraq. I think we’ve got the best possible plan for Afghanistan. We have reset our image around the world.”

Ok. Well, I’m not sure about all that. So I decided we should give him a real report card that is much more extensive:

Subject

Grade

Reason

Economy

D+

Where are the jobs?

Spending

F

We can't spend our way into prosperity

Health Care

D

D for "Disaster"

Iraq

A-

Continuing to move in right direction

Afghanistan

B

The surge is good; don't like all the hedging he's doing

Judges

B

Didn't like Sotomayor, but certainly qualified

Personnel

D

All the nominee tax problems and weird czars

Education

A-

Standing up to unions, promoting charter schools

Environment

D

Unintended consequences of "cap & trade" would be dire

Leadership

C-

At times quite divisive, doesn't stand up for freedom abroad

Average

C-

Now that's a little more realistic… the presidency is graded on a tough curve.

You don't get points just for effort.
