I'll Say This About Harry Reid

Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:21PM I’m sick of hearing about Harry Reid’s offensive racial comments. After watching Democrats drum up outrage over Trent Lott, I can’t help wondering why Republicans are playing the same game. I know politics is a rough profession. But if Republicans want to be a serious party, somebody, perhaps Mitch McConnell, should release the following statement:
“I’ve known Harry Reid for many years, and I know him to be an unprejudiced man. He is neither a racist nor a bigot. What he said was stupid, ill conceived, and wrong, but his comments do not in my opinion represent his true feelings about minorities. The focus should not be on Senator Reid’s comments, but rather on his philosophy-- the source of his wrong-headed attempts to dismantle the American way of life and the tradition of our founding. Senator Reid’s political philosophy is an enemy to all those who value freedom and believe in limited government.
Politics is a dirty game, but the Republican Party plans to win it not based on faux outrage or overhyped headlines but based on ideas and conviction—conviction that Conservative principles made our country strong and the sooner we return to them the sooner we will see a return to prosperity.”

Well said. Now will someone tell that to Michael Steele?
