Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 9:11AM During the debate on the $15Billion jobs bill, Sen. Maj. Ldr. Harry Reid said that men that are out of jobs tend towards domestic violence. Here's the clip:
Now statistically, that might be true because men that beat their wives are thugs and losers, and thugs and losers tend to be employed less than the general population. However, I find it hard to believe we can prove that men who lost their jobs, in the last calendar year and a half due to the economic downturn, are any more guilty of domestic violence than the general population.
But as long as we're arguing off the cuff about policies that are necessary to avoid domestic violence, here are some other causes of domestic violence off the top of my head:
- High taxes
- Overregulation
- Unfixed government entitlement programs
- New spending
- Government healthcare
- Government ownership of car companies
- McCain-Feingold
.... and that's just off the seat of my pants.
