The Conservative Oscar Nominees
Kevin Goll |
Friday, February 5, 2010 at 8:12AM The Oscars changed things up a bit this year and nominated 47 films for best picture.
Well, ok they just nominated 10 instead of the usual 5. Which seems odd because I don’t know that there were 3 films last year worthy of an Oscar nomination, let alone 10. But I digress.
We enjoy all movies, but ones with themes and messages not typical to Hollywood are particularly enjoyable. Nominating fewer then 10, here are our nominations for conservative Oscar:
“The Hurt Locker”
Good movie about the complexities of war and the heroism of our soldiers in Iraq… Doesn’t get political or preachy.
“The Blind Side”
Heartwarming story about a suburban, southern family who adopts a struggling teen who happens to evolve into an unstoppable offensive lineman, Ole Miss recruit, and NFL first-round pick
“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”
Perhaps the best Harry Potter movie, and as always, a good coming-of-age tale with clear themes of good and evil
“Taken”
In Jack Bauer-style, a pure action flick in which a former covert agent stops at nothing to retrieve his kidnapped daughter
… stay tuned for the winner!
